At CARE for the Bay Area, our mission is to help all patients achieve their dreams of creating happy, healthy families. For our LGBT patients, and for our single male and female patients who are interested in building families, we have several treatment options available.
For lesbian couples, we can coordinate a treatment cycle using donor sperm from a known donor or using donor sperm from a bank. The sperm can then be used for intrauterine insemination, with or without fertility medication. Alternatively, you may choose to do IVF using donor sperm, with one partner donating the eggs as well as gestating the pregnancy. Or, you may opt for one partner to provide the eggs, with her partner gestating the pregnancy. Each of these options can be discussed with your physician at your initial consultation.
For gay couples, we can coordinate a treatment cycle using both an egg donor and a gestational carrier (surrogate). The donor eggs can be inseminated with sperm from one or both of the male partners, with the resulting embryo(s) subsequently transferred to the gestational carrier.
For men and women interested in single parenting, the options are similar to those for our lesbian and gay patients. For women, we are able to coordinate a treatment cycle using donor sperm for use in either an intrauterine insemination cycle or for IVF. For men, we can coordinate a treatment cycle with an egg donor as well as a gestational carrier.
